Statement from Congressional Candidate Tracey Brooks on Congressman Michael McNulty's Four Chaplains Brotherhood Award Tracey Brooks, Congressional candidate in the Capital
Region’s 21st District, attended the Four Chaplains Brotherhood
award ceremony presented by the Albany Post 105 of the Jewish War Veterans held
in honor of retiring Congressman Michael McNulty at the Sam
Stratton V.A.
Medical Center
in Albany and
today issued the following statement:
“I want to congratulate Congressman Michael McNulty for his
nearly four decades of dedicated service to our community, his twenty years
representing our region in Congress, and his unconditional support of our
veterans. I cannot think of anyone more deserving of such a distinguished honor
than Congressman McNulty. When Congressman McNulty accepted his award, he
expressed a sincere hope that his successor will continue to fight for veterans’
causes.
“As a candidate to succeed Congressman McNulty, I vowed to
him and want everyone in the Capital Region to know, that I will continue his
fight for veterans’ causes and that includes doing everything possible to
ensure that as we bring our sons and daughters home from Iraq and other battles
abroad, that have all the resources necessary to rejoin our workforce, rejoin
our communities and, most importantly, rejoin their families. Our soldiers have
done everything we’ve asked of them – and more – and we owe it to them to bring
them home safely to a hero’s welcome. We must be there for our soldiers when
they need us most.”
As a lifelong resident
of the Albany
area and the Capitol Regional Director for Senator Hillary Clinton for the last
three years, Brooks enters the race with working knowledge of the problems
facing the region and experience in finding solutions to them.
Brooks has spent much
of her time since announcing her candidacy visiting farmers, seniors, small
business owners, manufacturing companies, technology learning centers and
families across all seven counties of the District talking about the issues
that matter most to people.
