Second McNulty Endorses Tracey Brooks for Congress
Former
Green Island Mayor Jack McNulty Joins Daughter and Current Green Island
Mayor Ellen McNulty Ryan in Throwing Support Behind Trace Brooks.
Tracey Brooks today announced another major endorsement of her candidacy
for the 21st Congressional District.
Jack McNulty -- former Green Island Mayor, former Albany County Sheriff
and Dean of the local Democratic Party -- endorsed Tracey Brooks for the seat
being vacated by his son, retiring Congressman Michael McNulty.
Brooks has already received the endorsement of Green Island Mayor Ellen
McNulty Ryan, the sister of Congressman McNulty and Chairwoman of the Brooks
campaign, and Cohoes Mayor John McDonald.
“Tracey is a smart, energetic and hard-working community
leader and certainly has the necessary experience to serve the people of the
Capital Region and Mohawk
Valley,” said Mayor Jack
McNulty. “Without question, Tracey Brooks is the candidate with the best grasp
of the commitment, duties and obligations involved with this office.”
“I am so honored to have the endorsement and support of
Mayor Jack McNulty, a local party leader, life-long public servant, and head of
a family of great public servants,” said Brooks. “Having the support of members
of the McNulty family means so much to our campaign and the work we’ve already
begun as we continue to talk about real issues that impact real people across
all seven counties of this Congressional District.”
As a lifelong resident of the Albany area and the Capitol Regional Director
for Senator Hillary Clinton for the last three years, Brooks enters the race
with working knowledge of the problems facing the region and experience in
finding solutions to them.
“As Congressman McNulty and I have been saying, continuing
to spend billions of dollars in Iraq
is the wrong priority for our country, while the right priority is to invest
that money in solving our problems right here at home,” said Brooks. “I will
work hard to bring our troops home safely, jumpstart our local economy, provide
comprehensive health care reform, support our local farmers and small
businesses, address the growing housing issues and push for more clean
renewable energy.”
