Saying It’s Time to Solve Our Problems Here at Home
Tracey Brooks Launches Campaign for Congress
Tracey Brooks today announced her campaign for Congress with the launch of her campaign website (www.traceybrooks.com); a YouTube video release; ActBlue, MySpace and Facebook pages; online fundraising and volunteer programs; and with phone calls to hundreds of active Democrats and community leaders.
Brooks is seeking the Democratic nomination for the 21st Congressional District, a seat currently held by Democratic Congressman Mike McNulty who last year announced his intention to retire from Congress.
“In 2006, the American people called for a new direction, asked Congress to refocus their priorities and watched Democrats start to make necessary changes in Washington,” Brooks said. “But now, in 2008, the people are still calling for change, are still asking Congress to focus on the right priorities and are looking for leaders with the right experience to make that change a reality.”
Brooks continued: “Congressman McNulty has said that spending billions of dollars in Iraq is the wrong priority for our country. He is right. The right priority is to invest that money in solving our problems right here at home.”
As a lifelong resident of the Albany area and the Capitol Regional Director for Senator Hillary Clinton for the last three years, Brooks enters the race with working knowledge of the problems facing the region and experience in finding solutions to them.
“My years working for Senator Clinton and with Congressman McNulty, listening to our friends and neighbors, helping them find real solutions to their very real problems, have given me the right experience to get the job done from day one,” said Brooks.
“I’m running for Congress because I believe we need to provide more jobs for people from Amsterdam to Albany, we need to support our farmers from Fulton County to Rensselaer County, we need comprehensive health care for people in Gloversville to Cohoes, and we need to invest in our people from Schoharie to Schenectady.”
