Endorsements
Give Major Boost to Brooks Campaign
Congressional Candidate Tracey Brooks today received major endorsements
from Albany Mayor Jerry Jennings and several Albany City Officials and
Democratic Party leaders in the race to replace retiring Congressman Michael
McNulty in the 21st Congressional District.
“I am proud to endorse Tracey Brooks to replace Mike McNulty
for Congress because she has the best combination of experience working in the
District, grassroots work in the community and knowledge of the issues most
important to us in the City of Albany
and the Capital Region,” said Mayor Jennings.
Brooks adds Mayor Jennings and other City official endorsements to the
support of Congressman McNulty’s father Jack McNulty, who recently endorsed
Brooks on his 86th birthday, and McNulty’s sister, Green Island
Mayor Ellen McNulty Ryan. Brooks also
received the first major union endorsement of the campaign from the Bricklayers
& Allied Craftworkers (BAC) Union Local #2 NYS.
“I am truly honored and thankful to have the support of
Mayor Jennings and so many officials and party leaders from Albany,” said Brooks. “But I’m also honored
to have the support of leaders throughout the district. Like Congressman
McNulty, I will work hard for all the communities in our District, from Albany to Amsterdam, from Schenectady County to Schoharie County
and all places in between.”
As a lifelong resident of the Albany area and the Capitol Regional Director
for Senator Hillary Clinton for the last three years, Brooks enters the race
with working knowledge of the problems facing the region’s diverse workforce
and experience in finding solutions to them.
Brooks has spent much of her time since announcing her
candidacy visiting with seniors, community health care workers, laborers, small
business owners, manufacturing companies, technology learning centers, family
farmers and working families across all seven counties of the District talking
about the issues that matter most to people.
“I’m focused on the serious issues people in the 21st
Congressional really care about like ending the war in Iraq, stimulating our
local economy and passing meaningful legislation that will bring more jobs,
broader health care coverage and a better quality of life for all the people of
the Capital Region,” said Brooks.
